Mission Statement:

The campuses of Indiana University are currently involved in a comprehensive review of their respective missions. The Indiana Commission for Higher Education retains authority to review and approve such missions. The following paragraphs are drawn from the last approved mission statements.

The five missions specified are: 1) to provide professional and paraprofessional programs of excellent quality in business, public administration, environmental concerns, education, the health sciences, and arts and sciences; 2) to provide all degree programs in the University with a strong liberal arts base and to provide arts and sciences degree programs of excellent quality; 3) to provide cultural enrichment to the communities served; 4) to provide to the citizens of Northwest Indiana continuous personal enrichment and development through innovative course sequences: and 5) to emphasize quality research and especially research appropriate to the problems of the region and to disseminate the knowledge deriving from that research.
